Even though the cow with BSE was a dairy cow, please keep in mind
that the cattle industry is notorious for grinding up dead cows and feeding them
to live cows, whether they be for dairy or beef. Also, keep in mind that
things flavorings for beef stew, and gelatin products come from spinal parts, which
are the parts that contain the potentially deadly protein.
I read that Milk products are ok since they do not contain any products form
the spinal chord.
The article says that cooking the meat will not help, unless you cook at some
ridiculous temperature, which will probably melt your pan before it does any good against BSE.
